RARE BEANIE BABIES IN CHARITY AUCTION

Twelve hard-to-find "Lady Di" Beanie Babies will be auctionedoff Wednesday to raise money for charity.

Bidding will start at 1 p.m. at the Yoke's food store inAirway Heights. Proceeds will go to the Ogden House, a Spokaneshelter for battered women and children.

Beanie Babies are small beanbag animals popular withchildren. "Lady Di" Beanie Babies are hard to come by. They can'tbe ordered; most can be bought only on the Internet, where sellersask for $200 or more.But a dozen arrived at Yoke's last week along with themonthly shipment of about 2,000 other Beanie Babies."You just cross your fingers and hope they show up," saidstore manager Shawn Letson. "We were very lucky."Instead of selling them for profit, employees decided to havea fund-raiser at the store."We just wanted to be generous," Letson said. "We wanted todonate the money locally."
