Palumbo will join Foster in Senate: ; Republicans offered only token opposition

A pair of popular Charleston Democrats sailed to victories intheir state Senate races by overwhelming yet predictable margins.

Kanawha County voters are sending Sen. Dan Foster back for asecond term while they tapped Corey Palumbo to replace outgoingRepublican Sen. Vic Sprouse.

With all 160 precincts reporting, Foster received 49,602 votes toAlan Long's 25,048. Palumbo received 51,630 votes to Bob Ore's24,806.

Four Democrats now will represent the county in the Senate -Foster, Palumbo, Brooks McCabe and Erik Wells.
