A Honduran man who killed his former boss and wounded an employee was executed Thursday despite an argument by his home government that his arrest was a violation of an international treaty.
He was the the second foreign national put to death this week in Texas, the busiest death row in the United States.
"God forgive them, receive my spirit," Heliberto Chi said in English before the execution began. In Spanish, he told a friend watching through a window that he loved him and appreciated his hard work. He appeared to be whispering a prayer in Spanish with a tear at the corner of his right eye as the lethal injection began to take effect.
